Santarini, a three-time Coppa Italia winner with the Giallorossi, represented the club for over a decade - proving a stalwart of the side from 1968 to 1981. During that time he also earned international recognition as an uncompromising, diligent defender.
For Roma, perhaps his most famous moment came in April 1978 - as he scored a last-minute winner to help preserve the club's top-flight status. To fans he embodied everything they wanted from their side - determination, aggression, conviction - and his goal, rising highest from a corner, only summed that up.
“Today Santarini showed that some games can be won with heart, just as the old Roma I've heard so much about used to do at Campo Testaccio," coach Gustavo Giagnoni, who ran onto the pitch to embrace his match-winner, said afterwards.

Giacomo Losi is another player whose name will live forever in club lore. He wore yellow and red his entire senior career, making 455 appearances in all competitions across 15 years.
Short in stature, Losi more than made up for that with his intelligence and ability to read the play and make the right moves. He, too, did not lack for bite in the tackle.
Like Santarini, Losi also played for the Italian national team - picking up 11 caps as he went on to represent his country in the 1962 World Cup. Also like Santarini, despite being born outside the city he became an icon to the club's fans - representing what they believed to be everything great about the club.

His own iconic moment came in January 1961 when, despite being injured, he stayed on the pitch (Roma had no substitutions left) and somehow managed to score the equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Sampdoria. This earned him the nickname 'Cuore de Roma' ('heart of Rome').
With the club he won the Coppa Italia twice, and was also captain as the side lifted the 1961 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
Happy birthday to both, and 'Forza Roma'!
