3x3: Roma-Lazio prediction, best Serie A defender and the next Azzurri captain

The Roma Question: What’s your score prediction for the derby?

Kevin / @Vote4kevin: “2-1 Roma, with a goal from Ciro Immobile and a brace from Edin Dzeko. Alisson will be upset to concede given his form lately, but Immobile is in even better form at the moment, with 14 goals and six assists in 11 matches so far this season.”

Anthony / @apascoe17: “So despite Lazio having a pretty good start to this season, I think Roma will win the derby with a narrow 2-1 victory. Dzeko will get back on the scoreboard as he's been superb even though he hasn't scored as many lately, and El Shaarawy to score as well!”

Matt / @Matt_Santangelo: “My score prediction is 2-1 in favour of Roma. It’ll be a tight one until the final whistle between two sides clashing for not only local bragging rights, but a swing in momentum in the hunt for Champions League football. Dzeko, Perotti and Milinkovic-Savic to get on the sheet.”

The Serie A Question: Not including Roma players, who is the best defender currently playing in Serie A?

@Vote4kevin: “It has to be Kalidou Koulibaly right? Aside from one match, he's played every minute of Serie A in the heart of Napoli's defence. With only eight goals allowed, the team's defence, buoyed by Koulibaly, has been one of the keys to Napoli's early success.”

@apascoe17: “Before this season if you'd asked, I would have gone with either one of the Barzagli, Bonucci or Chiellini trio at Juventus, but with Bonucci gone and Juve conceding more, I would have to go with Skriniar at Inter Milan. Inter have been much much better this season and his progression on from Sampdoria has been a really big part of their defensive improvement!”

@Matt_Santangelo: “If we are basing this question on current form, I’d say the two best defenders in Serie A this year are Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar. The former has elevated his game this year perfect time with Napoli chasing a title, while the latter – though arrived to Inter with upside – has exceeded everyone’s expectations.”

The General Football Question: Who should be the captain to lead the Azzurri into Euro 2020?

@Vote4kevin: “If he's still up for it at that point, Leonardo Bonucci should take the arm band. Other options include Andrea Belotti or Lorenzo Insigne. It's a tough decision, I don't envy the next manager at all.”

@apascoe17: “Honestly in 2020, I think Florenzi may be the ideal candidate to take Italy to the Euros even though it could be a little biased ! I think he sets the example with both his attitude and passion on and off the pitch for the rest of the squad to follow.”

@Matt_Santangelo: “With the old guard heading into retirement, the captain should be Leonardo Bonucci. He’s one of the longest tenured Azzurri players, and has been through the ups and downs over the years. But, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that one day Alessandro Florenzi wears the armband. He’s got all the necessary leadership qualities to captain this side down the road.”
