Waze come onboard as Roma's official traffic partner

WAZE

The club is delighted to welcome Waze as the club's official traffic partner. And, in a worldwide first, to celebrate the news Roma footballers have lent their voices to the navigation app.

Stars Stephan El Shaarawy, Alessandro Florenzi, Radja Nainggolan and Juan Jesus will guide Waze users around Rome, with the app also suggesting entrances to the Stadio Olimpico and the locations of AS Roma Stores.

Waze is the free navigation app used by over 100 million people, forming the largest community of drivers in the world. In real time, the app users share their traffic information, which leads to smart mobility updates designed for the common good.

The app suggests the quickest routes, highlights problems on the roads, offers fuel prices and much more.

The partnership between Waze and AS Roma means Roma fans and football supporters in general can listen to directions around the city from their idols. AS Roma are the first football club ever to lend its voice to Waze and, for one month, the public can choose to be directed on the roads by four Giallorossi stars.

Stephan El Shaarawy, Alessandro Florenzi, Radja Nainggolan and Juan Jesus recorded their voices on the app to accompany Wazers and fans to work or the stadium. The Roma players give messages at the beginning and end of journeys, while Florenzi gives specific directions en route, guaranteeing a safer drive.

The technological innovations don’t stop here however: the Waze team have also developed a special widget for the mobile and desktop apps that fully integrates Waze, the website and AS Roma’s official social media profiles. Every platform will have a new button or QR Code that allows fans to download Waze instantly and use the app to receive clear information on how to reach the 16 AS Roma Stores in the capital or find the best route to the Stadio Olimpico without getting stuck in traffic.

Other functions on the app are the ability to set navigation directly to the entrances to the stadium and, using Waze’s Planned Drives feature, fans can automatically receive a notification on the app that advises them when to leave in order to arrive at the Olimpico on time, taking into account the traffic. All you need to do is insert information on departure point, day and preferred arrival time.

“Waze is progressively turning into a genuine transportation company,” said Dario Mancini, Waze’s Country Manager for Italy. “The decision to move closer to the world of sport shows how the app is so much more than a navigation tool.

"Thanks to the Planned Drives feature, it is so much easier for people who have to arrive on time at important events on a day-to-day basis. Our partnership with AS Roma is evidence of how the club and Waze are working hard to support Giallorossi fans, helping them to experience memorable and enjoyable times not only at the stadium, but also every day in a city that we want to make more liveable and less congested.”
