On his debut this weekend, Damian ‘Damie’ Augustyniak qualified for the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final. Here’s everything you need to know about the newest addition to our FIFA roster…

When did you first start playing FIFA?

“I was really young when I started playing FIFA – I was about seven or eight. When I was a kid, I was training for football as well, so it went together perfectly.”

Describe your style of play…

“I’m just the kind of guy that likes to score goals, but I like to dribble too. I don’t want to play for a 1-0 score, so I’d rather bang in goals left, right and centre.”

What is your preferred formation to play with on FIFA?

“4-1-2-1-2 narrow.”

At what point did you realise that you could become a professional FIFA gamer?

“I tried to go pro in many games before FIFA. When I was younger, I began playing League of Legends, but that didn’t work out. Next I played CS:GO, but then when FIFA 17 came out, I was like ‘Let’s try FIFA’, and it just happened.”

When did you make your professional debut?

“The FIFA 17 Polish Championships was my first LAN event, where I placed third overall.”

How often do you train and what is your training regime like?

“I train every day, but it really depends. One day, I can play six or seven hours, and then others I just play two matches because I get bored. Sometimes I don’t play games, but just analyse and re-watch my past matches.”

Do you have a pre-match ritual or any unique superstitions?

“I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t change anything that works. If I play well at an event with a certain pair of shoes, I'll wear the same ones for my next event.”

What is your biggest professional achievement in your career thus far?

“Top 8 in Manchester – it was a huge event with a lot on the line, and I played very well there.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?

“I like to play other video games with my friends. I play games like Fortnite – a game every other pro FIFA player is playing right now.”

Who are your role models in the FIFA community?

“When I started on FIFA 17, I used to watch a lot of ‘Gorilla’ streams. I also used to watch Hashtag Boras's tutorials as well. I learned fast attack from ‘Gorilla’, possession from ‘RocKy’ and my overall defensive style from Boras.”

If you could give one piece of advice to FIFA players seeking to improve their games, what would it be?

“Just be patient and always try to find your mistakes – don’t always blame the game. These mistakes can happen, but most of the time you can do something better.”

Favourite Roma player (past or present)?

“Totti – there’s obviously no other choice.”

Favourite Roma player to use on FIFA and why?

“Nainggolan is a beast. I think he is the best gold CDM in the game.”

How did you react when you first heard of Roma’s interest?

“I was super excited. Roma obviously are one of the biggest clubs in the world, one of the semi-finalists of the Champions League. Fnatic are one of the best gaming organisations across many games right now, so it was crazy to me when I first heard of their interest.”

Why did you sign for Roma and Fnatic?

“I’ve always looked up to Fnatic as a gaming organisation, and their collaboration with Roma just made the decision even easier.”

How does it feel to be joining the team before such a big event?

“I have mixed feelings – some people will be surprised for sure. Even though most fans won’t know me from the beginning, it will be a boost of confidence for me to sign for two big organisations like Roma and Fnatic.”

What are some professional goals you hope to achieve this year with Roma?

“The first goal would be to qualify for the eWorld Cup Grand Finals in London this year. I want to win everything in FIFA 19, though – every event, every tournament. I really have high hopes for myself and hope to make everyone proud.”
