El Shaarawy acknowledges more needed after latest draw

Forward Stephan El Shaarawy accepted his side need to be sharper in front of goal, after they drew 2-2 with Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night.

The Giallorossi twice went behind against the Norwegian side at the Olimpico; while they managed to come back and claim a draw, a win that would have restored control of the group eluded Jose Mourinho's side.

“We faced the game like we wanted to win it – especially in the closing stages,” El Shaarawy said.

“We went behind twice and we were able to fight back, but we clearly need to be more clinical in front of goal. We could have gone ahead early on but we need to be a bit more decisive and hungry to make sure we take control of these matches as soon as possible.”

He added: “The defeat in Bodo hurt us and today we wanted to make amends. We played hard, with grit and determination, but it wasn’t enough. We need to find a way to give even more.”
