Stat Attack: Facts to know before Torino visit

With Roma welcoming Torino to the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday night (kick-off: 20:45 CET), we look at 10 stats worth knowing ahead of the Serie A Matchday 12 encounter.

Happy hosts

Roma have claimed 48 victories from the 75 previous meetings (64 per cent) between these two in the capital, while there hasn’t been a draw in this match since 1995 and the Giallorossi had won nine in succession until Torino’s victory in this fixture last season.

When it rains, it pours

Paulo Fonseca’s side have scored in six of their last eight matches and when they have found the back of the net in Serie A, they have gone on to score at least two goals in all six of those matches - hitting 21 goals at an average of 2.6 a game.

Dry spell

The hosts are out to keep a fourth Serie A clean sheet in succession at home for the first time since November 2014.

The fortress

Roma are unbeaten in nine Serie A home games (W6, D3), and only AC Milan have a better current record on home soil (12 games without defeat) in the league.

Free scorers

Since the beginning of October, Roma have scored the most goals (22) in Serie A, while Torino have conceded the most in that same period (22).

Mr. Consistent

Jordan Veretout is the only midfielder to have scored at least five goals in each of the last four seasons (since 2017-18) across the entirety of Europe’s top five leagues.

Leaky visitors

Torino have also conceded at least two goals in 19 of their 31 league matches this calendar year and Toro currently have the worst defence in the league having conceded 27 goals already this term.

Quick out the blocks

No team has scored more than Roma (five) and Torino (four) during the first 15 minutes of games in the top-flight in 2020-21.

Back with a bang?

Having returned from injury to feature as a substitute in Roma’s previous two matches, Chris Smalling is pushing for a start against the team he last scored past in Serie A. The England defender headed home Roma’s second in the 3-2 win over Torino in July.

Major milestones

Pau López's next Roma appearance will be his 50th in all competitions for the Giallorossi, while Gianluca Mancini and Federico Fazio are, respectively, one away from their 50th and 150th starts for the club.
