It was truly a thing of beauty - watch Edin Dzeko's first goal against Chelsea from every angle...
The press reaction...
"The volley he belted from Federico Fazio’s lofted pass over Christensen was a strike of brutal splendour."
- The Guardian
"You could try that 50 times in training and not hit one of them perfect!"
- Frank Lampard, for BT Sport
"Roma's sense of purpose was rewarded just after the hour mark with a stunning equaliser. Fazio clipped a long pass over the top of the Chelsea defence and Dzeko thundered a sensational first-time volley above Courtois and into the net."
"The sort of willing target man that Chelsea would like in their squad. His volley was expertly and gloriously struck."
- The Times
"In the 64th minute, he smashed an audacious volley past Thibaut Courtois. The technique was breathtaking. Utterly brilliant."
- The Daily Mail
How fans reacted on social media...
Wednesday was Edin Dzeko's 100th game in a Roma shirt, and he celebrated in style. The volley was his 58th goal for the club, and six minutes later he added his 59th. Not bad at all!
“I said [in the pre-match press conference] that Italian football has given me a great deal,” he said.
“You can see that today because when I was at Manchester City, I never scored against Chelsea. I scored today and did well.
“It’s still early [in the group]. We still have three important games left to play. It’s a crucial point for us. Now our focus switches back to Serie A, then we’ll think about the Champions League again.”
