Bove: "Mourinho is instilling a great mentality"

Edoardo Bove sat down to field questions from the gathered media on the eve of our Europa League quarter-final first leg with Feyenoord.

This is what he had to say...

How much do you think Georginio Wjinaldum was missed and how much are you learning by training with him?

“Gini is an amazing footballer and an amazing person. We didn't miss him much as a person because he was always around us – even when he was injured, he would come into the dressing room. He's been part of the team all along. As for Gini the footballer, you're always going to miss a world-class player like him. I try to pick up as much as I can from him because I really think he's an exceptional player. I actually think I lost out when he got injured because I wasn't able to learn from him. But he's back now, he's doing great and we're delighted to have him with us.”

Where do you feel you need to improve? Maybe dealing with pressure sometimes?

“Pressure is something you get used to throughout your career. As a player, you have to deal with different types of pressure but with time you learn to play with it. I don't see it as a big problem. Slowly but surely I'm getting better and better and I'm pleased.”

What did you think when you heard Mourinho call you a 'sick dog'? And more seriously, what's the most important thing you've learnt from him?

“It made me laugh as I think it did most people. He meant it in a nice way. The most important thing is the mentality he's instilling in us. You don't get that with everyone. He's the sort of coach who gives you real hunger and helps you a lot mentally.”

Do you think you'll stay at Roma or will you look at other options?

“I'm very happy at Roma. I'm focused on training and improving. Together with the club we'll decide what's best for my future. But I don't think that's the most important thing right now. We have to finish the season as best we can. We're still in two competitions and we have to do our utmost to win every game. I'm focusing on that.”

Where do you think the team has improved? What's Roma's main strength now?

“Our team spirit. Everyone feels part of the team and that helps us to perform on the pitch. It's not to be underestimated .We know that if everyone does their job, we can produce great performances. That's something we must bear in mind as it will help us win games.”
