Match Pack: Roma Women prepare for Juventus showdown

On Friday night a potentially big match - even at this early stage of the campaign - takes place in Serie A...

Roma Women head to Vinovo on Friday afternoon for what looks like being an early season Serie A meeting with long-term implications.

The Giallorosse head to face champions Juventus on Matchday 3 of the campaign, looking to build on a start that has seen them take maximum points so far.

With kick-off at 14:30 CEST due to Champions League commitments for both sides next week, here is what you need to know about the contest...

    The Form Guide

Roma have started the season with two wins from two in the league, picking up where they left off after ending last season with four straight triumphs in Serie A.

The Giallorosse have not conceded a goal in the last four league matches either, a new record for the side.

Juventus drew with Inter Milan last weekend to end an impressive historic record of never having dropped points in their opening two league games.

    General Statistics

Roma drew their last meeting with Juventus (1-1 at Vinovo in March) having previously lost the first six meetings with the side in league meetings.

Roma could become just the second side to avoid defeat against Juventus for two straight games. Atalanta Mozzanica managed it against the Bianconere back in 2018 and 2019.

Roma have won seven of their last eight away matches and have not even conceded a goal in the last six of them. In fact, the game that breaks both streaks is the 1-1 draw with Juventus last March.

Roma already lead the league in total shots (37), shots on target (18), shots faced (just 10) and shots faced on goal (only 1).

This match sees the best attack so far in Serie A (Juventus - nine goals) go up against the best defence to date (Roma - none conceded).

    Focus on the Opposition

Juventus have won nine of the 11 matches between these sides in all competitions, losing one and drawing the other. They have scored in all 11 matches (25 in total).

Joe Montemurro's side have drawn three of their last six home matches in the league, having won 44 of the 46 games prior to that.

Juventus have not managed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven home matches.

    Focus on Roma Players

Valentina Giacinti could become just the second player to score against Juventus in Serie A for three different clubs, after Daniela Sabatino (Brescia, Milan, Sassuolo). Giacinti has previously scored against Juve for Milan (November 2018) and Fiorentina (January 2022).

Andressa Alves has created more chances (seven) than any other player so far this season. She will make her 50th Serie A appearance for Roma should she be involved on Friday.

Lucia Di Guglielmo scored her first goals for Roma against Juventus, back in October 2021.

    Opposition Players to Watch

Cristiana Girelli has scored four goals in the opening two weeks of the season, equalling her personal record. She has not scored in her last 270 minutes against the Giallorosse, however.

Lineth Beerensteyn could become just the second Juventus player (after Girelli) to score in the first three league games of the season for the club - but the first to do it in her debut campaign.

Linda Sembrant will be suspended for Friday's match, after being sent off in the match against Inter Milan.

    Familiar Faces

Benedetta Glionna scored 13 league goals for Juventus between 2017 and 2019.

Agnese Bonfantini scored 12 league goals for Roma between 2018 and 2021.

    Arbitro

Sarà Paride Tremolada della sezione di Monza a dirigere la gara. L’unico precedente con le giallorosse risale alla scorsa stagione nella vittoria in trasferta 2-1 sulla Sampdoria.
