Pellegrini: Huge regret we couldn't put things right

Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini spoke to the media in the wake of Sunday's 4-3 defeat against Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.

Having led 3-1 at one point in the contest, the Giallorossi were overhauled in the closing stages - as Pellegrini himself (having scored earlier in the contest) saw a late penalty saved.

Here's what the midfielder had to say about the game...

Seven minutes completely turned around a game that you had dominated for 70 minutes...

“Indeed. But it's the scoreline at the end of 90 minutes that is the one that ultimately counts. And we've come away from the game with nothing to show for it. We found ourselves here trying to explain things that can't really be explained. Conceding three goals like that, after dominating Juventus for 70 minutes. Conceding three goals like that can't happen and we will need to watch it all back."

Are there things to work on?

“There's something to work in every aspect. As I've said before, we are doing that - along with the boss. But we are tired of saying that we are 'starting a process'. We want to improve in the shortest timeframe possible."

There must be double reason for regret for you this evening...

“Yes, after the excitement, the emotions and the happiness of scoring at home to make it 3-1 in such an important game. And then, after you concede three goals, to have the chance to get the game back on the right track [with the penalty]. After that penalty there were still 10 minutes to play. I am really sorry. Sorry for my teammates, because I could have given us the chance to put things right. But it wasn't to be."
