Zalewski pleased to celebrate first start with a win

See what the youngster had to say after Sunday's win over Spezia....

Nicola Zalewski started his first game for Roma on Sunday - ultimately celebrating the occasion with a victory, after Tammy Abraham slotted home an injury-time penalty winner.

Here's what the Poland international had to say about the game...

When did the coach inform you that you would be starting this one? How did it feel?

"There wasn't a specific moment when the boss told me I would be starting the game. He looked at a few different formations in training, then this morning he gave us the confirmed line-up. I'm really pleased, we put in a good performance.

"The main thing was to get the three points. As for my shirt, I will be giving it to my national team coach and I will be really happy to give him a token from a special evening for me."

How did you find it, covering the whole left flank? What did the boss want you to do?

"It's a new position for me. The boss asked me to make sure I did my defensive duties, first and foremost. But then, when we have the ball, to take on the opposition man without fear - just like I always have done."

What will be the main memory you take away from this first game as a starter?

"Clearly the best part is the fact we got the three points in the end, thanks to a goal that we completely deserved. We bossed the game throughout."
