Roma 1-1 Sampdoria: Frustration despite Shomurodov strike

Substitute Eldor Shomurodov broke the deadlock for the Giallorossi midway through the second half, only for Manolo Gabbiadini to tap home an equaliser shortly afterwards.

Sampdoria seemed content to play for a point for much of the game; ultimately thwarting Jose Mourinho’s side as they achieved their aim.

Goalkeeper Waldimir Falcone made a number of impressive saves for the visitors – including a double stop to deny Nicolo Zaniolo and then Felix Afena-Gyan.

Roma are back in action on 6 January 2022: they travel to face AC Milan as the second half of the campaign gets underway.
