Cristante confused by Mkhitaryan incident

The Giallorossi fell to Ante Rebic’s low drive, after Jordan Veretout had cancelled out Franck Kessie’s early opener.

“We started poorly and we know that,” Cristante said.

“Especially in the first 20-25 minutes we made a few different mistakes at the back. There are no excuses, but after that we were able to get back on track. We should have been focused from the very start. But we fought until the end. Apart from the start, we played well and could have drawn.”

He added: “In the second half we equalised, but after that we went behind again and it was difficult to fight back for a second time.

“There is VAR for the incident with Mkhitaryan – you need to take another look. But we have not received a real explanation for what happened.”
