The Stadio della Roma approval process has taken another positive step forward

On Friday evening, the Rome Capital Government approved the two preparatory resolutions for the approval of the final provision relating to the AS Roma stadium project

Now another step remains: the approval, expected in the coming weeks, of the final text of the urban planning agreement, which will have to be signed between Roma Capitale and the project sponsors, a scenario made possible by the continued work of both parties throughout the Covid-19 lockdown period.

Meanwhile, the two resolutions approved on Friday will guarantee benefits not only in terms of accessibility to the new stadium area but for the entire city traffic system.

Thanks to the approval of the agreement between Roma Capitale and the Metropolitan City of Rome, the city sections of the Via del Mare and Via Ostiense will be connected, two of the main streets used by the public to connect the seaside with the city.

The new stadium project will also lead to the enhancement of the city's public rail network.

The resolution was also approved, with the collaboration agreement between Roma Capitale and the Lazio Region, which will ensure the strengthening of local public transport infrastructures, in particular of the Rome-Lido railway line.

After the due diligence requested by the Mayor Virginia Raggi, who has definitively given the green light to the process for the new stadium, the next step will be the green light of the Rome Capital Government to the final version of the Urban Planning Agreement.

Once approved by the Rome Capital Government, the text will be analysed by the town hall that hosts the area and by the dedicated commissions of the Rome Capital Assembly, before being examined by the municipal councilors in September - the last step before a process that has now begun to reach a conclusion, which will allow AS Roma to finally begin building the new stadium. The resolution was also approved, with the collaboration agreement between Roma Capitale and the Lazio Region, which will ensure the strengthening of local public transport infrastructures, in particular of the Rome-Lido railway line.
