Club delivers over 1000kg of food to animals in need

The club, in conjunction with its charity arm Roma Cares, donated food supplies for both cats and dogs to various non-profit, voluntary organisations who provide care for the animals in the Italian capital.

The initiative was made possible thanks to the work of the Ente Nazionale per la Protezione degli Animali (Italy’s National Organisation for Animal Protection) - which helped the club identify and assist the organisations in the area that offer care and shelter for abandoned or stray cats and dogs.

The gesture was supported by pet food suppliers Monge and Eukanuba, who provided over 1000kg of food in total.

“We would like to thank AS Roma from the bottom of our hearts, as they show once again that they understand the generous side of this city,” said Carla Rocchi, National President for ENPA.

On hand to help with the day’s deliveries was club mascot Romolo, who is also ambassador for all Roma activities involving animals.

The project is part of the club’s ASSIEME (‘Together’) campaign, launched during the current pandemic to help those most in need in the city.

Beyond supporting the hospitals and medical institutions in the front line of the current battle to control and contain the spread of the virus, during the last few months the club has also offered support to the elderly, the homeless, the imprisoned, the disabled and those on the margins of society – distributing masks, gloves, sanitising gel and other vital supplies to all those in need.
