Di Criscio and Thestrup say farewell

Two players who have already said their goodbyes are defender Federica Di Criscio and forward Amalie Thestrup, who both posted messages on social media over the past few days.

Di Criscio, an Italy international, was one of the original squad members when Roma Women started in 2018 - although her 2019-20 campaign was derailed by a serious knee injury.

In total she made 25 appearances for the club, scoring two goals.

In an emotional post on Instagram, the centre-back expressed her affection for her two-year spell in the Italian capital.

"Two years that were enough to learn so much about myself, two years that were enough to create a new part of myself and little world of my own in this great city," she said.

"Two years have passed since that day that changed my life - out of a career choice, a love was born. A love for this club, this city... a love that will not end like this.

"Right now I am saying goodbye to this great city that has given me so much... I will be back, in a different shirt - but I will be back."

Thestrup, meanwhile, joined the club last summer - adding an attacking option for coach Betty Bavagnoli throughout the past campaign.

She forced her way back into the Denmark squad as a result of her performances, but will now be looking for a new challenge.

"I am very proud to have represented the Giallorosse and the beautiful city of Rome," she wrote.

"Thank you to my teammates, coaches, the staff, the club and the fans for an unforgettable time!"

In total Thestrup made 15 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.

Thank you, Federica and Amalie - and the very best of luck for all your future endeavours!
