Stat Attack: Facts to know ahead of Juventus showdown

Ahead of Sunday's big game at the Stadio Olimpico, we've gathered together a few facts and figures worth knowing about the contest...

Kick-off is at 20:45 local time.

    The record in the league

This will be the 86th meeting in the capital between the two sides in the top flight of Italian football. To date, Roma lead the standings with 32 wins to Juve's 25 - with the other 28 games ending in draws.

    Edin's first

Edin Dzeko's first goal for the Giallorossi came in this fixture, the second of the 2015-16 campaign. On that occasion it proved decisive in a 2-1 Roma win.

    … and Abel Balbo's too!

Abel Balbo (87 goals in total for the club), also got his first in Roma colours against Juve - and also in the second game of the season. That came back in 1993, as the Argentine powered home a header in front of the Curva Sud.

    Looking good since 2014

In the last five meetings between these two sides at the Olimpico in the league, Roma have won three and drawn two. Interestingly enough, only Genoa have managed to win three home games against the Bianconeri during the same span.

Aiming for two in a row

Despite that positive run, Roma have not managed to beat Juventus twice in a row in the league since 1995. On that occasion the wins were spread across two campaigns; the Giallorossi winning 3-0 at the end of the 1994-95 season, and then going to Torino and winning 2-0 at the start of the following season.

    The all-time goalscorers

Francesco Totti leads the all-time goalscorer standings against Juventus, having scored 10 goals during his career. Fulvio Bernardini, Dino Da Costa and Giuseppe Giannini following the legendary No. 10 with six.

    Roma and Sarri

This will be the tenth time Maurizio Sarri has faced Roma as a coach, following previous contests as coach of Empoli and Napoli. Roma have won five of those games, drawn two and lost two.

    …and Sarri against Fonseca

As Shakhtar Donetsk coach, Paulo Fonseca came up against then-Napoli boss Sarri during the group stage of the 2017-18 Champions League. Shakhtar won 2-1 in Ukraine, lost 3-0 at the San Paolo... but nevertheless got through to the knockout rounds at the expense of the Partenopei - where they would be beaten by Roma.

    Just 101 minutes behind

Behind for 45 minutes during last weekend's eventual defeat against Torino, the Giallorossi have now been behind for a total of 101 minutes during games this season. No side has been behind for less time so far this season.

    Beaten by Torino

Roma failed to score in their last home game, after previously winning four in a row at the Olimpico (scoring at least twice each time).
