    Bavagnoli pleased with progress

Elisabetta Bavagnoli expressed her satisfaction with the improvement shown by the team following Saturday's 4-0 win over Empoli

The Giallorosse raced into a 2-0 lead inside the first 11 minutes courtesy of goals by Vanessa Bernauer and Lindsey Thomas, before Agnese Bonfantini and Annamaria Serturini rounded off the scoring in the second half.

“It was important to win but also to improve on the areas where we came up short in our first game,” the coach said after the match.

“I asked the girls to come out strong and they did that really well. We were in control for 70 minutes. We shouldn't have eased off at 3-0 – we can't afford to do that ever. We have to keep going, even when it's 4-0.”

Are you happier with the four goals scored or the clean sheet?

“I'm happy with both things and I'm especially pleased we were able to get our midfielders into goalscoring positions. As for the clean sheet, we had that 20-minute spell at the end when I got angry because we did nearly concede.”

Your next game is against Verona, who drew at Bari today.

“All the matches we have to play are going to be difficult. There are two or three teams a notch above the others this year but there are no easy games. We must make sure we're properly prepared for the next one.”
