AS Roma youth ambassadors invited to Generation Amazing Festival in Qatar

AS Roma is pleased to announce that it will be participating in the first ever Generation Amazing Festival in Qatar next week

The four-day event will kick off a series of festivals leading up to 2022 FIFA World Cup and is focused on engaging and inspiring the next generation of youth through football.

AS Roma will send four youth ambassadors to the Generation Amazing Festival in Doha, where they will engage with their peers from countries around Asia, the Middle East, the Americas and Europe and learn about and discuss topics such as football for development programmes and their impact in the community, cultural experiences and social inclusion.

Back in September, AS Roma and Generation Amazing announced a four-year global strategic partnership aimed at bringing invaluable life skills to those most in need through the power of football.

Generation Amazing, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy’s football for development programme, was initiated during Qatar’s successful bid for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in 2010 and uses the power of sport to positively impact lives and create sustainable social development in communities.

Targeting vulnerable and displaced people, Generation Amazing has been developing football pitches and refurbishing existing infrastructure to create safe places to play. To date, more than 30 community football pitches have been developed across the Middle East and Asia and more than 500,000 beneficiaries have been reached through football for development programmes, operating in Qatar, Oman, Nepal, Pakistan, Jordan, Lebanon, Philippines and India.

The partnership between Roma and Generation Amazing has already seen 50 young children in Rome take part in a special football activation in September and the event in Qatar, will be the latest development in the partnership.

“We are honoured to be sending a delegation of youth ambassadors to represent Roma at the Generation Amazing 2019 Festival in Doha,” said Paul Rogers, chief strategy officer at AS Roma. “Over 150 young people from across the Middle East and Asia will be participating in the festival and it will be a great experience for our young girls and boys to meet, socialise and share learnings with their peers from different countries and cultures.

"When we partnered with Generation Amazing, our goal was to work together to use football for good and we see this festival as a brilliant opportunity to bring future leaders together to help find new solutions to tackle important social issues like gender inequality and racial discrimination.”

The youth ambassadors representing AS Roma will arrive in Doha on Sunday, ahead of the start of the Generation Amazing Festival on Monday.
