Bologna 1-2 Roma: Dzeko delivers delightful late winner!

In a game that featured a number of controversial refereeing decisions – perhaps the least of them being to show Gianluca Mancini a red card following two innocuous fouls – it was Dzeko that silenced the increasing boisterous Bologna crowd, as he finished off a slick counter-attack to clinch all three points.

After a quiet first-half, the Giallorossi had taken the lead early in the second half thanks to Aleksandar Kolarov’s pinpoint free-kick.

But the Serbian would give up a penalty – albeit in rather dubious fashion – moments later, as Nicola Sansone duly equalised.

When a handball inside the box from Stefano Denswil was not reviewed by VAR, it appeared it would not be Roma’s afternoon, especially once Mancini was asked to leave the pitch.

But instead Dzeko found himself in perfect position to meet Lorenzo Pellegrini’s cross, and steal a big three points for the side.

The Giallorossi are back in action on Wednesday, as they host Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico.
