Barcelona 6-1 Roma: 7 facts and figures

Here’s seven facts and figures from a Champions League night to forget at Camp Nou in Barcelona....

4

Edin Dzeko scored for the fourth game running against Barcelona on Tuesday night - heading home in the 91st minute having previously missed a penalty. The last two Giallorossi players to write their name on the scoresheet for four consecutive games were Mattia Destro in 2013-14 and Erik Lamela the season before. The Italian struck four in four games while the Argentine found the net in six back-to-back matches, notching seven goals in the process.

6

Dzeko's strike means Roma have scored six goals in four Champions League meetings with Barcelona, whose tally is now up to eight. The Giallorossi's record reads one win (3-0 in February 2002), two draws (both 1-1, one in Catalonia and one in Rome), and one defeat from their four meetings with the Catalan outfit.

17

With Dzeko's consolation goal at Camp Nou, Roma have now scored in 17 of their 18 competitive fixtures this season - drawing a blank just once – against Inter at the San Siro.

29

Roma's defeat in Catalonia means they have lost 29 times in 77 Champions League outings - and 17 times in 39 away games. The Giallorossi have kept eight clean sheets on the road and nine from 38 home matches.

31

Twenty-two of the 31 goals conceded by Roma this season have been away from the Olimpico - an average of 2.2 per game. The Giallorossi have a much better defensive record at home - where they have let in nine goals in eight outings (1.1 per game).

40

Edin Dzeko's goal takes Roma's tally for the season to 40 in all competitions – the sixth time in club history they have reached the 40-goal mark in 18 or fewer games. They recorded the same tally in 1962-63 after 16 matches (11 league, two Coppa Italia, three Fairs Cup, including a 10-1 mauling of Altay Izmir), in 2000-01 after 17 games (nine Serie A, six UEFA Cup, two Coppa Italia) and again in 2012-13 after 17 matches (16 league, one Coppa Italia). They also managed 40 goals in 18 games in 1930-31 and 1934-35.

98

Thanks to Edin Dzeko's header, the Giallorossi have now racked up a total of 98 goals in Europe's elite competition.
