The two players are international team-mates with aspirations of traveling together to Euro 2016 next summer but that friendship will go out of the window on Saturday as both teams battle it out for top spot in the league.
From the youth sector to the first team, you're two of the few to have done it. What's the secret to making your dreams come true?
Santon: “Always stay humble and committed in training every day, that’s how you get to where Alessandro and I are today.”
Florenzi: “The secret is to work hard and never stop having fun.”
Inter v Roma has often decided where the title is going. What does this match mean to you?
Santon: “It means a lot because we’re both up there and so it will be a big six-pointer in the context of the league season.”
Florenzi: “We’ve both had a good season so far. It will definitely be a great game. We want to perform our best and try to win.”
Name some good role models to follow. You're not allowed to say Zanetti...
Santon: “Totti.”
Florenzi: “My idol, alongside Francesco, has always been Daniele De Rossi. He’s always helped me out as a team-mate ever since I broke into the first team.”
#FrightNight, which team-mate should your opponent fear the most?
Santon: “Perisic.”
Florenzi: “On current form, I’d say Miralem Pjanic but I could mention lots of Roma players. So I’d say they need to be wary of several of us.”
What is the other guy's best quality?
Santon: “Hard work and humility. He’s a great guy with a lovely family behind him. He deserves to be where he is today and he’s earned that with all of his ability.”
Florenzi: “His engine, his pace and... definitely the hat he’s wearing for today’s interview!”
From opponents on the pitch to team-mates in the national team, will you be heading to the Euros together?
Santon: “I hope so. It’s a goal of mine but there’s still a long way to go. There’s a whole season ahead and it’s only just begun but I hope both Alessandro and I make it to the Euros in France together.”
Florenzi: “I hope so because he’s a great team-mate in the national team. We’re always together, the pair of us, along with Andrea Bertolacci. We meet in each others’ rooms and have a laugh during our free time on international duty.”
Speaking of the national team, you all recently shared a photo on Instagram. Why is it important to be active on social media?
Santon: “Fans and the general public are interested in our lifestyle. Who you’re friends with, who you go out for dinner with, how you spend your days. I think it’s important to let people know what we’re up to.”
Florenzi: “To share what we’re up to with the supporters and everyone we know, especially the light-hearted moments of the day. And to show that – just like in that picture – although we play for different clubs, we get on well together in the national team and we’re good mates.”
What does the city of Milan have that Rome doesn't, and vice versa?
Santon: “They’re both cities that have a bit of everything. I don’t know Rome that well because I’ve only ever really gone there to play football. What I can say is I enjoyed growing up in Milan and I’ve got lots of great memories.”
Florenzi: “It’s sunny in Rome, whereas there’s perhaps less traffic in Milan.”
What's your favorite Halloween costume?
Santon: “Alessandro already looks the part, he doesn’t need a costume! If I had to go to a party though, I’d dress up as Captain America!”
Florenzi: “What Davide’s wearing now for the interview... a soldier!”
Choose a fictional character who is similar to your style of play.
Santon: “I won’t choose anyone because I’m just myself.”
Florenzi: “The elf of Rome!”
