Sanabria hits ten goals to join elite group

Antonio Sanabria scored his tenth goal of the season for Sporting Gijon on Sunday to become only the tenth player in the last 50 years to score ten La Liga goals in a single season before the age of 20

The Paraguayan forward, who is on loan at the Spanish club from Roma, scored the winner as Gijon recorded a 1-0 win away at Valencia. Sanabria coolly slotted away a 50th-minute penalty to take his scoring tally into double figures for the season.

It means Sanabria joins an elite group of players to have scored ten goals in a single La Liga season before the age of 20. Below are the names of the other nine players to have achieved the feat, in chronological order:

Santillana (1972, Real Madrid), Roberto Lopez Ufarte (1978, Real Sociedad), Julen Guerrero (1993, Athletic Bilbao), Raúl González Blanco (1996, Real Madrid), Fernando Morientes (1996, Zaragoza), Fernando Torres (2003, Atletico Madrid), Lionel Messi (2007, Barcelona), Sergio Aguero (2008, Atletico Madrid), Bojan Krkic (2008, Barcelona).
