The Bosnian midfielder scored Roma's third goal - his first since Torino v Roma on 5 December - as the Giallorossi ran out 3-1 winners at the Olimpico.
“Winning is what we wanted tonight,” the 25-year-old said after the final whistle. “We could have avoided conceding an equaliser and it would have been better if we'd put the game to bed earlier but there were some good signs today and these three points are reward for all the hard work we're putting in during the week. I want to dedicate this win to the fans.”
Was it just a mental problem?
“Obviously everything is easier when you win because it lifts your confidence. We played well today but it doesn't mean anything. We have to build on this when we play Sassuolo on Tuesday because it will be a tough game. We have a new coach and a new playing system but the players are slowly getting used to it. Spalletti wants us to play good football and get our confidence back. I think that was a good response tonight.”
Are you thinking about targets for the season?
“It's a long league campaign and we're just taking one game at a time. What matters is that we keep winning matches. We have to get a run of wins going to move us closer to the teams in front of us. Let's enjoy this victory now and get straight back to work to start preparing for Tuesday.”
