"Roma have a very competitive squad," declared the legendary striker from the '80s and '90s who is now head of public relations at Real. "They have high-quality players who are very experienced. It won't easy for us and Italian clubs don't tend to give away anything for free."
Speaking after the draw in Nyon, Butragueno also stressed the danger of underestimating any opposition at this stage of Europe's premier club competition.
"We must never assume that we are favourites. This is now a knockout competition and we know the consequences of playing poorly for even just ten minutes in these games. This is a special tournament and the motivation for every team is huge. With all respect to Roma, I hope to return to Nyon for the quarter-final draw."
