Florenzi, Manolas and Torosidis start for Italy and Greece

Alessandro Florenzi, Kostas Manolas and Vasilis Torosidis all started for their respective national teams on Thursday night, while Stephan El Shaarawy was an unused substitute

Florenzi’s Italy drew 1-1 with Spain in Udine, while Manolas and Torosidis were involved in Greece’s 2-1 defeat of Montenegro.

Florenzi played 89 minutes of the friendly against Spain, with Lorenzo De Silvestri relieving him in the latter stages of the game. The Giallorossi man had a good performance on the right side of midfield in Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 formation.

Manolas played 66 minutes of Greece’s win over Montenegro, Marios Oikonomou replacing him for the final 25 minutes or so, while Torosidis made way for Alexandros Tziolis five minutes from the 90.

Six more Giallorossi players will be involved in international action on Friday. Edin Dzeko, Miralem Pjanic and Ervin Zukanovic will be part of the Bosnia & Herzegovina squad taking on Luxembourg, while Norbert Gyomber’s Slovakia face Latvia, Lucas Digne’s France travel to Holland and finally Mohamed Salah’s Egypt head to Group G rivals Nigeria for an African Cup of Nations 2017 qualifier.
