Stephan El Shaarawy's goalscoring average for Roma this season, one goal every two games. The Italy forward banked eight goals in 16 appearances, thus handing him the best average among Giallorossi players ahead of Mohamed Salah (0.412) and Francesco Totti (0.384).
For the third time in the club's history, Roma have finished in the top three for three consecutive seasons, matching the spells from 2005-06 to 2007-08 and four seasons from 1980-81 to 1983-84.
The Giallorossi, third in the league with the best strike-force in Serie A, rounded off the season with a run of five back-to-back victories which hasn't been since the end of 1991-92.
Roma finished the campaign with the best attack in the league for the ninth time in the club's history. With a total of 83 goals, the Giallorossi scored 29 more than last season and just four fewer than the club record of 87 set back in 1930-31. Inspired by a full-throttle second half to the season – 2.7 goals per game after the away loss to Juventus – Roma have reclaimed the title of most goals scored after eight years of waiting since 2007-08 under Spalletti in his first spell. The Giallorossi previously had the best attack in the league in 1930-31, 1934-35, 1985-86, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2000-01 and 2003-04.
Mohamed Salah concludes his debut season at the club as top goalscorer in the league (14) and in all competitions (15). The Egyptian winger is the first Giallorossi player to hit double figures since Mattia Destro with 13 in 2013-14. Francesco Totti had the honour last season with ten strikes, sharing the title of top Roma goalscorer in the league with Adem Ljajic on eight.
Victory at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza capped off a sensational second half of the season in many respects. The Giallorossi haven't lost in 17 back-to-back matches and in 19 games under Spalletti the team has emerged victorious on 14 occasions – a win percentage of 73.7%, bettered only in 2009-10 with 15 wins at 78.9%. Across the same period, Roma have scored 47 goals at an average of 2.47 per game, scoring 2.47 goals for every one conceded as well and picking up 80.7% of available points: All of these numbers go straight into the upper reaches of the all-time Giallorossi record book.
The 3-1 win against Milan makes it 20 away wins for Roma against the Rossoneri, 18 of which have come in the league (four back-to-back under Spalletti's stewardship) and two in the Coppa Italia. In the league, Roma have beaten Milan at San Siro by two goals or more on only five other occasions and have never previously found themselves in a three-goal lead. The Giallorossi biggest away win against the Rossoneri remains the 4-0 thrashing in the Coppa Italia in November 1979.
Just like last season, the stats show that Roma are inclined to increase their goalscoring prowess as the match goes on. The team scored the majority of their goals in the final quarter of an hour (21 out of 83, roughly 25%), while if you divide the match into three 30-minute periods the final half an hour was the most productive (35 out of 83, 42%). The squad scored 48 of their goals after half-time compared to 35 in the first half. From a defensive point of view Roma conceded the fewest goals in the opening 15 minutes (just two), while the back-line was punctured mostly frequently in the last quarter of an hour with 13 (32%).
After three seasons with Alessandro Florenzi's name on it, the title of most appearances goes to Kostas Manolas who featured in 37 games ahead of Radja Nainggolan (35), Mohamed Salah (34) and Wojciech Szczesny (34). It's the first time in Roma history that an Italian hasn't featured among the top Giallorossi appearance-makers for a single season.
In scoring his debut goal for the club, Emerson Palmieri became the 364th Roma player to score in the top flight since 1927. The Brazilian full-back replaced El Shaarawy midway through the second half and made it 20 different players to score for the Giallorossi in all competitions this season (19 in the league).
