Alberto De Rossi was quick to praise the quality of Roma Primavera's game after they edged an exhilarating contest with Inter to book their place in the U19 Scudetto final.

The semi-final was edge-of-your-seat stuff for 120 minutes: 2-2 in regular time then 3-3 after extra time before the Giallorossi eventually won on penalties.

“It's not a game you can sum up in a few words,” the Primavera coach began after the final whistle. “It had everything, it was real thrill a minute.

“I'd like to say something about my team because they were magnificent. When you concede in the first minute of extra time, if you're not strong mentally, if you don't all pull together, it's tough to come back from that.

“This is a great group of lads. They play good football and when you play good football you can always find a solution. That's what we did.”

Having fallen behind midway through the first half, De Rossi's side managed to overturn the deficit thanks to a Marco Tumminello brace (39, 50) before Rey Manaj netted a 90th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot.

The Nerazzurri edged back in front in the opening seconds of extra time but Ezequiel Ponce levelled the scores once more in the 108th minute to send the game to penalties.

Eleven spot kicks were then converted in succession before Lorenzo Crisanto pushed away Inter's sixth to clinch victory.

“These lads only know how to play on the deck – it comes very naturally to us. They've been playing that way since a very young age.

“But besides playing good stuff, today they managed to get themselves out of a tight spot by digging deep and sticking together. They can be very pleased with that.”

Roma will find out who their final opponents are when Torino and Juventus face off on Wednesday.

“Tomorrow we'll come back to the stadium to watch the other semi-final and we'll rest,” the Primavera boss concluded.

“We know both Torino and Juventus very well. Once we see who the opposition is, we'll start preparing for the final.”

The final act of the 2015-16 Primavera championship will be played at Mapei Stadium on Saturday 4 June.
