"A Scuola di Tifo" visits Tasso High School to celebrate World Food Day 2025

To celebrate World Food Day, the club went to visit Liceo Torquato Tasso in Rome for a new session of its programme titled “A Scuola di Tifo – Willy Monteiro,” which was established in 2015 to raise awareness among students about socially important issues.

Its first educational session was held on 13 October in the school auditorium, where some representatives of the World Food Programme (WFP) showed the students what the UN agency based in Rome does and its mission in the field of food assistance. 

The topics covered ranged from food security to responding to humanitarian emergencies, as well as developing resilience, the causes and consequences of food crises and what it meant for the World Food Programme to be awarded the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. Some WFP professionals also shared their on-the-field experiences through significant personal accounts of their missions in Sudan, Nepal, Uganda and Chad. Moreover, there was a conversation with a WFP humanitarian operator based in Dakar, Senegal, who attended the event remotely.

Then, on 16 October, the club visited the World Food Programme’s global headquarters at Parco de’ Medici with a delegation that included Pierluigi Gollini. After an introduction to the ongoing activities, they were given a tour of the OPSCEN room, where the world’s most serious emergencies are monitored in real time, the room where the Nobel prize and the original medal received are kept, and the Auditorium where all the member States that support the Agency meet.

AS Roma took the opportunity to reassert its support for the World Food Programme as it committed to promoting the use of the “Share the Meal” app on its channels. This very important tool enables fans to easily make a donation to those in need, so that the World Food Programme can provide them with meals.
