Roma full-back Lucas Digne has revealed that playing alongside Francesco Totti was one of the highlights of his season.
Digne, currently with the France squad ahead of this summer’s European Championship, made 29 appearances for the Giallorossi last term – scoring three goals as Luciano Spalletti’s side ultimately finished third in Serie A.
Roma ended the campaign 17 games unbeaten thanks in part to Totti’s goals over the closing weeks, and Digne has admitted he is still full of admiration for the 39-year-old’s skills.
Totti signed a one-year contract extension with the club on Tuesday.
"He's a simple guy. It is a pleasure to play with him every day,” Digne told Omnisport. “He's someone who's open, he speaks with everyone.
“He's still amazing. Sometimes, he is doing things technically that are incredible.
“He saved us several times during the end of the season. It allowed us to keep that third place. It was important to us."
Digne added that he was also surprised by the Italian’s down-to-earth demeanour around the club and training ground.
"He helps young players, of course,” Digne added. “He talks to everybody. Whether a young player from the Primavera or me when I arrived, he spoke to me.
“It is really nice to work with him.”
