Dzeko, speaking in a feature with Sky Sports in the United Kingdom, made the observation about his teammate - who scored his 250th Serie A goal earlier this season.
"For me, he's one of the five best players in the world ever," Dzeko said. "To have the chance to play with him and get the ball from him is incredible.
"I remember when I was growing up the Italian league was probably the best in the world, and I watched him and now I have the chance to play with him."
Along with the 40-year-old's vast footballing gifts, Dzeko revealed his demeanour outside the pitch only enhances his legacy.
"When you see him in and around the training ground and in the dressing room, you wouldn't know it was Totti," Dzeko said. "That's what makes him such a great player and a legend."
