New Turkish teenage signing Cengiz Under made his first start for Roma in the 3-nil home win against Verona and then declared he wants to stay in the Italian capital for many years to come.
“I’m really happy to have made my debut,” Cengiz enthused after the match. “I was so excited to play here at the Olimpico. I want to play here for many years, in front of these great fans. Now we’ll look to prepare ourselves as well as we can for the coming matches, hoping to do as well as we’ve done this evening.”
What did Eusebio Di Francesco say to you before the game?
“The boss let me know that I’d start a few days ago. Either way, I knew he had faith in me. I believe I’ve repaid his faith this evening, now we hope for even more improvement in the future.”
Do you want to say anything to Edin Dzeko, who helped set up a great chance for you?
“Yes, that he played a great pass to me and I really should have stuck the chance away. So I’ll say sorry to him for not scoring then.”
How have these first few months at Roma been?
“It was tough to start with, but I’m getting used to it. I’ve got a place to live now and I’m improving my Italian. I’m happy.”
