The Giallorossi emerged 1-0 victors thanks to Kolarov's second-half free-kick, the second time this season the left-back has decided a game from a set-piece.
But the man himself was simply happy to have picked up the three points after a European adventure in midweek.
"It was important to get the win today after the tiring match in London [against Chelsea]," Kolarov said. "We did what we had to do, got three important points and now we need to take advantage of the fixture list which has thrown up two winnable home games."
On his personal contribution, he added: "I always try to do my best; sometimes it works out for me, sometimes not. However, the lads have welcomed me really well. We need to continue in the same manner, it doesn’t matter who scores.
"It’s important for me that I’m winning at this stage of my career. I’m happy to be here and I’m happy with what we’re doing."
The Serbia international was asked if Roma were Scudetto contenders.
"I don’t know, you can’t tell after nine matches," Kolarov said. "Winning titles is the hardest thing in football. We’ll finish where we deserve to. I don’t want to delude myself with talk of the Scudetto; it’s still only October."
