Champions League semi-final draw: The details

IMGA

After an incredible campaign, just four teams remain in Europe's top club competition. Roma are one of them, and will find out their Champions League semi-final opponents on Friday afternoon.

Here are the key details you need to know.

When is the draw?

The semi-final draw will take place, as always, at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon on Friday. The ceremony is due to get underway at 13:00 CEST (07:00 EST), with the Europa League semi-final draw following afterwards.

Who is in the draw?

Bayern Munich (GER)
Liverpool (ENG)
Real Madrid (ESP)
AS Roma (ITA)

Are the any special rules in place?

No. As with the semi-finals, the draw is completely open - with no seeds and no domestic country protection in place (although all four sides represent different nations anyway).

The side drawn out of the hat first for each tie will play the first leg of the semi-final at home.

When will the matches be played?

Teams will have next week free of European competition (although Roma are in domestic action against Genoa), with the semi-finals getting underway in just under two weeks' time.

First legs: Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 April
Second legs: Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 May

The exact schedule will be confirmed in the afternoon of the draw, but the tie played on Tuesday 24 April will almost certainly be completed on Wednesday 2 May (and vice-versa)

What comes next?

After the ties are completed, there is actually a further draw for the final - simply to decide the nominal 'home' side for administrative reasons. But no-one needs to worry about that just yet...
