Roma World: Meet Milad Firouzi from Tehran, Iran

Today we meet Milad, a Roma super-fan from Iran and Canada!

Name: Milad Firouzi

Age: 33

City: North Vancouver

Country: Canada

Where did you grow up?

"Tehran, Iran."

Why did you choose Roma?

"I cannot remember exactly, but I remember that we were three friends in elementary school - one a Juventus fan, another one was a Milan fan, and I was a Roma fan. I guess I was a Romanisti from day one!"

Who was your first Roma hero and why?

"For sure Francesco Totti, he was everything you could possibly want in a football player, great personality, great technique, handsome and, above all, what was the most important to me loyal as hell, he is an idol for me."

What is your memory of your first game?

"I certainly remember the final game against Parma in 2001, specifically those magical moments before full-time when all the fans were louder than anything I've ever heard!"

What is your favourite Roma kit of all time?

"The 2001-02 Champions League shirt, half giallo and half rosso! I've wanted that shirt for as long as I've been a fan, and need to get my hands on it!"

Can you describe football culture in Tehran, Iran, and what it's like being a supporter there?

"People in Iran are so passionate about football, and what amazes me is their knowledge and dedication, specifically to the European game. Watching a match in Iran, you would not know that you're not in Europe!"

If you could meet anyone connected to Roma - past or present - who would it be and why?

"This is a difficult choice between Daniele De Rossi and Totti, but for me, Totti wins because he is my idol. I would love to tell him how much his loyalty and respect for the club means to me."

What makes you most proud to be a Roma supporter?

"The short answer would be just one word: 'passion'.

"However, to elaborate more, if you take a look at AS Roma history and the many, many players that have come and gone, there has always been one common key to success in this club - loyalty. The most successful Roma players have always been the loyal ones."
