Mkhitaryan: We deserved this win

The Giallorossi earned a 3-1 win at the Stadio Olimpico – with Mkhitaryan finding the net either side of strikes from Gianluca Mancini and Borja Mayoral.

For Mkhitaryan it was his ninth league goal of the campaign.

“We knew it would be a difficult game, against a good side – a strong side,” Mkhitaryan said.

“But we were ready for that. We played brilliantly in the first half, socring three goals, and in the second half we could have scored a few more. We didn’t manage that, instead we conceded one and that made things a bit harder. But we deserved to win.”

The result keeps the Giallorossi in the top three in the Serie A standings, with sides keeping up the pressure all around tem.

“Every game we try to show that we can and should remain up there in the table,” he said.

“There are no easy games. We know that we will have to fight against all the other sides until the very end. We will see where we end up.”

Next weekend the side will face another important test of their credentials, as they travel to face Juventus in Turin.

“We have time to prepare the game against Juventus,” Mkhitaryan said.

“There are no straightforward matches in this league, especially when you are facing a top club like them. We know it will be a special game.”
