Roma announce official esports team for 2020-21 competitive PES season

AS Roma are delighted to announce the launch of an official PES team and the signing of the club’s first three professional PES gamers, Marko Roksic, Stefan Slavkovic and Emiliano Spinelli.

The three players will represent AS Roma Esports at all official PES tournaments and events throughout the year, including Konami's elite eFootball.Pro competition. Two of the three players will also participate in the PES format of the eSerie A, Serie A's domestic gaming league.

Marko Roksic, known as 'Roksa' in the PES scene, was most recently the captain of Serbia's national esports team in the UEFA eEURO PES 2020 tournament. "I am very happy to have the chance to represent Roma in the new eFootball Pro season," he said. "It's an honour to be a part of this esports team and from the start, they have shown me nothing but endless support and welcomed me with open arms into the Roma family."

Stefan 'Kepa' Slavkovic has been a professional PES player for two seasons, and previously represented FC Nantes last year on the competitive PES circuit. "I am very glad to have the opportunity to play for an organisation like Roma," revealed the Serbian gamer. "It is one of the best teams in the world and it is really an honour to be a part of the Giallorossi. I'm excited, I can't wait for the season to start. I expect to have great results as a team this season."

Emiliano Spinelli, more commonly known as 'S-Venom,' represented Arsenal in last year's eFootball.Pro competition. The Rome-based player has been in the competitive PES scene for 12 years and was the European vice-champion in 2019. "I'm so excited to represent AS Roma, the team from my city," Spinelli described. "I’m really proud to be playing for these colours, and I’m sure that with my new teammates, we can achieve great things together."

The signing of the three new esports players signals AS Roma’s official entrance into the competitive PES world, where the team will face off against other club-affiliated teams from across Europe, including Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Juventus.

“I'm pleased to welcome Marko, Stefan and Emiliano to AS Roma," said AS Roma Chief Operating Officer Francesco Calvo. "The Club's esports ambitions are just as high as those on the football pitch, and for this reason we have selected three players whose potential we believe will help us reach our targets."
