Roma 1-2 Juventus: Zaniolo injury adds to disappointment

Early goals from Merih Demiral and Cristiano Ronaldo - from the penalty spot - gave the visitors an ultimately decisive advantage, although Diego Perotti's 68th minute strike (also from 12 yards out) gave the Giallorossi hope going into the closing stages.

Paulo Fonseca's side pushed hard throughout the second half and had countless other chances to get on the scoresheet, but ultimately ended up frustrated.

That frustration was compounded by what appeared to be a serious injury suffered by Nicolo Zaniolo, who fell awkwardly in the first half and was taken off to hospital.

Roma are back in action on Thursday, as they face Parma in the Coppa Italia.

Their next Serie A engagement is on Sunday, as they travel to Genoa.
