Roma secured an 8-0 victory over Pinzolo Val Rendena on Tuesday afternoon, as the Giallorossi players got the first competitive minutes of 2017-18 under their belts.
Coach Eusebio Di Francesco saw his starting XI roar out into a 7-0 first-half lead against their regional opponents at Pinzolo's Stadio Pineta, with captain Diego Perotti opening the scoring from the penalty spot and adding a second soon after.
Striker Marco Tumminello also grabbed a brace in the first half, as Leandro Castan, Riccardo Cappa and Matteo Ricci all also found the net in an exciting opening first half.
In the second half Di Francesco opted to make wholesale changes, with Gerson the only player to continue the match (the Brazilian eventually being substituted with around 60 minutes gone).
Stefano Ciavattini found the net in impressive fashion shortly after the restart, but that would turn out to be the last goal of the game as, despite almost constant pressure from the Serie A side, their hosts for the day proved determined defenders.
The Giallorossi are next in competitive action on Friday, as they face Czech side FC Slovacko.
ROMA starting XI: Alisson; Peres, Castan, Jesus, Lu. Pellegrini; M. Ricci, Gonalons, Gerson; Cappa, Tumminello, Perotti.
ROMA 2nd half XI: Lobont; De Santis, Gyomber, Nani, Seck; Ciavattini, Vainqueur, Marcucci; Gerson (Keba), Sadiq, Valeau.
