    Juric reacts to USG draw

Ivan Juric spoke to journalists and pundits in the Sky Sport Italia studio following Roma's 1-1 draw with Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.

Here's what he had to say...

What are the positives to take from this game?

“There were some good spells when we did things the right way and some poor spells when we lacked intensity, which I didn't like. It's not a good result but a point is better than nothing – let's look at it that way. That said, we can't be too happy with the performance today.”

Within these poor performances, there have been individual errors impacting on the result. Are they technical errors or is it down to the players being a bit tense?

“I don't know what to say other than we're making these mistakes. It can happen and, yes, it can be because of your mental state. I'm sorry because the lads are giving everything – heart and soul – but we're not getting the results we'd like.”

Today there was a lack of focus in a situation that could have been dealt with better.

“I agree. We didn't have a brilliant game. We started the second half well, had that chance with [Eldor] Shomurodov, then [Tommaso] Baldanzi hit the post before we scored. Unfortunately we're making individual mistakes and we're paying for them. That's football for you. Sometimes you're not at your best but you can still win the game. At the moment we're not tough enough to win when we're not at our best.”

Is there a way out of this? A solution? Did you think you'd find the way to shake off this negativity by now?

“I did, yes. We've had some very good performances but not got the results that would have helped us to kick on. It's the same today: if we'd won, we'd all be very happy. We had the opportunities we needed to win but something always happens...

“The negativity is understandable because the results aren't good but we have to be strong to stand up to it and push on. We need a strong team spirit to get out of this.”

Do you expect the owners to come to Rome? A face-to-face talk with Dan and Ryan Friedkin to try to work out what's happening and what will happen to you?

“To be honest, I'm just focused on coaching and preparing for our games. I was focused on doing my job well and trying to give everything I have because there are other things I can't influence. I'll keep going like this. I can't and I don't want to get into anything else.”
