Bove: "It was crucial to win this match."

The midfielder's thoughts after Roma's first leg victory against Bayer Leverkusen.

Here’s what Giallorossi midfielder, Edoardo Bove, had to say on after Roma’s Europa League semi-final first leg victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night.

The goal, then the standing ovation from the whole stadium when you came out. Are you a cold person or did you feel something inside tonight?

"I'm not a cold one, I felt a sea of emotions inside. I'm very happy with the goal and the team's result. It was crucial to win the first half of this slightly longer game. We will go there on Thursday with the same desire and the same character as today".

Everybody liked the mentality and the tenacity with which you went after that ball. Does it mirror the mentality of this group in Europe?

"Yes, absolutely. Especially in Europe, if you don't put all your energy, determination, and intensity into every ball, you risk getting into trouble.Today we played a game of great intensity, and we are happy about that."

The team always controlled the game.

"Yes, they gave us problems at the beginning with two or three attacks. We knew they were a very good in attacking team with fast nd quick players up front. It took us a while to get the hang of it, but then we played a great game."

"Do you dedicate your first European goal to anyone?

"No one in particular, but it's for my family and the people who are close to me. It may be cliché to say, but it's true. Those who are always there, also help you on the pitch too."
