Belotti: “My best performance and well-deserved qualification”

Andrea Belotti shared his thoughts after Roma beat Salzburg in the return-leg of their Europa League playoff. Il Gallo broke the deadlock with a great goal.

Here’s what he had to say.

Is this your best game since joining Roma?

“Yes, I think so. I’m happy because it was very important. We prepared well for it both tactically and psychologically. We very much deserved to get through.”

You left the pitch to a standing ovation. How hard have you worked to get to this point?

“At the start, just after I arrived, I found things a bit difficult. It was tough physically too because I hadn’t done pre-season training with my team-mates. I then had some injuries which knocked me down. Now, I’m feeling good and I want to give everything on the pitch. I always want to win.”

How are you finding your role at Roma?

“When I came to Roma, I knew what the situation was. There is a great team and they’d just won the Conference League. I put myself on the line, knowing that there was a great striker like Tammy Abraham playing in my position. However, I’ve always worked hard to improve because it’s to be expected that all of us want to play. The important thing is to be available for the team. You all win together.”
