Roma proud to support ECA with organisation of Youth Knowledge Exchange

The club is delighted to be supporting the European Club Association (ECA) with the organisation of the latest Youth Knowledge Exchange in Rome this week.

The Stadio Olimpico will be the venue for the fourth edition of the expertise-sharing event, with representatives from ECA Member Clubs meeting together to share insights, best practices and more on the subject of the development of young footballers and the organisation of academy sectors.

After previous events run in conjunction with Anderlecht, Athletic Club and RB Leipzig, Roma will become the first Italian club to support the ECA in organising the two days of events, which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Representatives from over 60 European squads are expected to be in attendance at the Olimpico, including those from Manchester City FC, Manchester United FC, FC Bayern Munchen, Inter Milan, SL Benfica, Sporting Clube de Portugal, RB Salzburg and Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

The primary focus of this week’s event will be on the development of youth coaches – an area the club has invested in heavily in recent times, to ensure the highest quality coaching throughout its academy sector.

Among those expected to participate in proceedings are the club’s General Manager, Tiago Pinto, the Head of Youth Development, Vincenzo Vergine, and Italy’s Technical Director for Youth Football, Maurizio Viscidi.

“To help host the ECA Youth Knowledge Exchange is something we are very proud of,” Vergine said.

“We cannot wait for the opportunity to welcome so many clubs from all over Europe and to have the opportunity to exchange ideas on a subject that the club believes to be particularly important – the training of our youth coaches and thus, as a consequence, the development of our young players.

“On behalf of the club, I would like to thank the ECA for this opportunity and welcome all our colleagues from around the continent whose presence will ensure it is a productive few days ahead.”

Senior officials from clubs including Bayern, RB Salzburg and Inter Turku are also expected to share their insights over the course of the event.

A visit to Roma’s training centre in Trigoria is also part of the itinerary, where the club will provide a tour of elements of the infrastructure made available to players.
