Juventus 1-0 Roma: Disappointment in Turin

Roma fell to a 1-0 defeat against Juventus in Turin on Sunday night, in a game that was certainly not without its controversial moments.

Moise Kean's early goal proved to be the difference between the two sides at Juventus Stadium, although the Giallorossi saw Jordan Veretout's first-half penalty saved by Wojciech Szczesny.

That was the game's major talking point, with referee Daniel Orsato seemingly not playing advantage as Tammy Abraham steered home seconds after Henrikh Mkhitaryan was fouled in the box.

Veretout's saved penalty was the first he has failed to convert since joining Roma - although Jose Mourinho's side were adamant advantage should have been played.

Roma started the game brightly but, after Kean had got the final touch to steer home Mattia De Sciglio's cross, they struggled to break down a home side that sat back and closed down the spaces.

Veretout, Matias Vina and Bryan Cristante were among those to go close, although Szczesny was largely a spectator as time and again a Juventus defender got his body in the way.

Roma don't have long to dwell on this defeat: they travel to Norway to face Bodo-Glimt in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night, before a home league meeting with Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
