Roma 1-1 Atalanta: Cristante piledriver rescues point

Bryan Cristante was the hero on Thursday night, as he helped rescue a point against his old club at the Olimpico.

Cristante lashed home his first league goal of the season from fully 25 yards out to secure a 1-1 draw for Roma, as Atalanta were dealt a blow in their top-four ambitions.

Ruslan Malinovskiy had given the visitors the lead midway through the first half - a lead they looked on course to retain, at least until Cristante found his range from distance.

A red card to Robin Gosens moments prior had also disrupted the Atalanta momentum - with both sides finishing the game down to 10 men after Roger Ibanez also picked up his second yellow card.

Pau Lopez was the busier of the two goalkeepers, especially over the first hour or so, but it was Pierluigi Gollini who had to be alert at the end - as both Edin Dzeko and Carles Perez went close to clinching victory for the Giallorossi.

Paulo Fonseca's side are back in action on Sunday as they travel to face Cagliari.
