Bavagnoli impressed with effort from young guns

Roma Women coach Betty Bavagnoli was pleased to see so many young players take their opportunity, as the side beat Roma CF 7-0 on Wednesday evening.

The Giallorosse moved through to the knockout stages of the competition with the victory, where they will face Florentia.

Andressa Alves scored a hat-trick to set the side on their way, before Alessandra Massa, Serena Landa and Alice Corelli (2) also got their first goals for the club.

"We've achieved what we wanted, qualifying for the next round of the Coppa Italia,"Bavagnoli said.

"I was pleased with the approach and the attitude shown, even against a side in a lower division we wanted to show that eagerness to win every ball and every challenge. Perhaps at the start we were a bit reticent, but in the second half things were better."

By the end of the game Roma had six academy graduates out on the pitch, with Elena Battistini joining Massa in making her full debut for the club.

"I'm really pleased to have seen a few of our young players out there," Bavagnoli said, "and to allow a few of them to get some action under their belts - but some of the more experienced players did well too.

"All of them did well and scoring can only help them psychologically as well."
