The Giallorosse, looking to kick on after the opening day draw with Sassuolo last week, created plenty of chances throughout the game at Trigoria - although it was only in the second half that they finally made headway.
The introduction of Paloma Lazaro at half-time was crucial; the Spanish forward winning a penalty, converted by Andressa Alves, before converting herself in the closing stages to seal the victory.
“I’m pleased with performance, it was a quality display,” coach Betty Bavagnoli said.
“We created a lot of chances, at least five really good ones – we can still work on that but we scored when we needed to and that’s the main thing.”
On Lazaro's impact, she added: "We signed because we knew the qualities she has. She has great belief, she never gives up."
In truth some of the other Roma forwards will wonder quite how they didn't also get on the scoresheet - with a combination of brilliant Bari defending and some imprecise finishing contributing to ensure it remained goalless at half-time.
That trend seemed to continue into the second half too - with Agnese Bonfantini and Annamaria Serturini among those thwarted on multiple occasions - until Lazaro's clever turn inside the box drew a costly foul.
Andressa made no mistake from the spot, her final contribution to a game where she regularly dictated play.
“The important thing was to get the three points,” the Brazilian said.
“Now it’s time to rest and recover and focus on Empoli [on next weekend] – which won’t be easy.”
When Lazaro latched onto Andrine Hegerberg's throughball to score the second, victory was finally assured.
