Roma Cares distributes masks, gloves and gel across suburbs of the city

Roma Cares resumed distribution of masks, gloves and sanitising gel in neighbourhoods around the city on Monday, as the start of ‘Phase Two’ of the lockdown in Italy began.

On Monday morning Roma’s delivery vehicles began visiting bus stops and metro stations around the city, offering personal protection equipment to citizens making journeys around the capital.

A total of 4,000 masks, 4,000 pairs of gloves and 8,000 bottles of sanitising gel were made available to those citizens returning to work on Monday, along with all those in need of supplies in neighborhoods around the city.

A further 5,000 masks will be distributed among parishes and shelters, going to the most needy in the community.

All the masks distributed are washable, and can be reused up to 30 times.

The latest initiative falls under the club’s ASSIEME (‘Together’) campaign, which was launched in April and comprises all of the initiatives introduced and run by Roma Cares in the last few months.

The distribution of protective equipment will continue over the coming days in other parts of the city, along with further church communities and shelters.

In total 9,000 masks will be distributed to the public, on top of the 32,000 that are being given to key workers – including police officers, public transport officials and government staff - in the city.

In total, 41,000 masks, 4000 bottles of sanitising gel and 8,000 latex gloves will be distributed.
