Spinazzola disappointed with display despite first goal

Leonardo Spinazzola acknowledged that he had not enjoyed the best of games on Thursday night, despite scoring his first goal for the club.

Spinazzola somehow opened the scoring in Graz, as his header ricocheted off the defender, back off his head and into the far corner.

But it was not enough for the Giallorossi to get the three points against Wolfsberg, as Michael Liendl found the top corner with a second half rocket.

“It was a bit of a lucky goal,” Spinazzola said.

“In the second half we had a few chances that we should have done better with. I’m talking about myself there too: I made a lot of errors.

"We needed to be technically a bit better in the second half than we were.”

He added: “There was space to hurt them. They pressed well but we are capable of being better on the ball than we were. It’s disappointing to draw, but there’s still a long way to go. On Sunday we have an important game.”

Spinazzola was quick to hold his hands up and admit he could have done better on a number of occasions.

“I must admit that I made a lot of mistakes with my passing, and I didn’t make the most of a few one-on-one opportunities to beat my man either,” he said.

“It spiralled; I began thinking about the mistakes I had made before - and then I made another when I next got the ball.”
