PSG edge Roma Women on penalties despite fightback

Roma fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening - although it was the visitors who ended up lifting the Trofeo Luisa Petrucci following a penalty shootout.

Substitutes Annamaria Serturini and Agnese Bonfantini both scored in the second half to restore parity for Betty Bavagnoli's side, who went into the break behind after a well-taken brace from Jordyn Huitema.

Plenty of the side's summer arrivals were on show during the game, among them Manuela Giugliano, Andrine Hegerberg, Amalie Thestrup and Lindsey Thomas - with the latter duo both looking threatening throughout the game.

Over 1000 fans were at Stadio Tre Fontane for the match, although they were ultimately left disappointed as PSG scored all five of their penalties to win the shootout 5-3.

The Giallorosse get their Serie A campaign underway next weekend, with AC Milan the visitors to Tre Fontane.

"It was a great friendly, we showed our desire to fight back against a great side," Serturini said afterwards.

"There were positive signs, as a group, of our togetherness and our strength.

"I hope my goal is a good sign - we start the season in good spirits."
